Why did you choose to become a Fitwel Ambassador?
BL:
I first learned about the Fitwel Ambassador program while searching for a credible solution for Hudson Pacific to further advance the healthy building movement. I chose to pursue the Multi-Tenant Base Building scorecard so I could demonstrate my commitment to building health and wellness and to show how building owners and managers, such as Hudson Pacific, can raise the bar and make greater strides toward creating healthier environments.

Hudson Pacific has been a long-time Fitwel Champion. How has Fitwel contributed to the company’s goals around sustainability and building health?
BL:
Fitwel has helped align our sustainability goals with tangible health outcomes. We've integrated Fitwel's framework into our Office Sustainable Design Vision, ensuring that every new development and major project enhances occupant well-being. From healthier building materials to better indoor air quality, Fitwel underscores our commitment to creating spaces that promote both health and environmental stewardship. The Fitwel rating system includes many common sense health and wellness strategies that the majority of our tenants can implement, making it accessible and simple.

How has becoming a Fitwel Ambassador impacted your life and/or career?
BL:
Being an Ambassador has empowered me to champion health and wellness initiatives within Hudson Pacific and beyond. It helped me streamline the certification process across the entire Hudson Pacific portfolio, including achieving at least one Fitwel Certification in each of our core regions. I have also had the pleasure to implement Fitwel within Hudson Pacific’s corporate responsibility program, Better Blueprint™. It's not just about achieving certifications but about fostering a culture of sustainability and well-being. Moving forward, I aim to expand our Fitwel program, mentor colleagues, and advocate for policies that prioritize occupant health in building design. I believe that by sharing our successes and lessons learned, we can inspire others to join us in creating healthier built environments.

How are you using Fitwel to advance your company's/client's ESG strategies?
BL:
We use the certification framework for Health Impact Categories to create a Healthy Building Checklist, which outlines key design and operational features. Fitwel Certification is also required for all new developments and major repositioning projects under Hudson Pacific's Office Sustainable Design Vision. Integrating Fitwel's principles into our corporate responsibility strategies strengthens the social pillar of our program, putting health and wellness at the forefront of our sustainability efforts.
