AT A GLANCE

+ Distinctions, Greatest Number of Registered Projects

BGIS lives and breathes sustainability, incorporating social and environmental responsibilities into all aspects of its operations. This dedication, combined with a commitment to integrity, a caring culture, and a passion for innovation, is how they truly 'walk the walk', achieve results, and receive well-deserved recognition, such as one of 2024's Best in Building Health Awards. Recognized for registering the most Fitwel projects in 2023, BGIS is breaking records and cementing its position as a key player in promoting health and wellness in the built environment across Canada, one of Fitwel’s fastest growing regions. In a year overshadowed by climate crises like the Canadian wildfires, BGIS's commitment to fostering health and well-being shines brighter than ever. Their significant commitment has also earned them Fitwel Champion status, adding to a growing cohort of Partners, Providers, and investors in Canada.

National Director of EHS and Sustainability, BGIS

Paul Parsons, National Director of EHS and Sustainability at BGIS, provides insights into their efforts below.

Why did BGIS pursue Fitwel?
Fitwel aligns seamlessly with our dedication to fostering healthy work environments. The Fitwel Standard and its strategies aid us in propelling our sustainability objectives forward, minimizing environmental footprints, impacting health, and bolstering the resilience and sustainability of our built surroundings.

What advice would you give a team considering adopting Fitwel for the first time?
The process has helped us develop a more comprehensive health and well-being strategy, as well as inform us on how to take action in our managed buildings to create long-term value. Our collaboration with Fitwel has yielded valuable insights, guiding the development of initiatives that continuously improve building performance and promote occupant well-being.

What are your ESG goals for 2024 and beyond?
As work environments and environmental stewardship commitments change dramatically, our ESG objectives adjust dynamically. Our primary strategy is to use partnerships and technology to spur innovation while navigating economic uncertainty. Fitwel assists us in accomplishing this.
