Fitwel 2024 Recap: Scaling Impact, Driving Value

As 2024 draws to a close, I want to take a moment to reflect on our shared accomplishments and express my deepest gratitude for your unwavering dedication to our mission. Together, we have made significant strides toward creating healthier, more resilient communities, and your continued support is what keeps the healthy building movement moving forward.

Celebrating 2024 Milestones
This year has been a testament to the strength and persistence of our collective mission. We've reached new heights and celebrated important milestones that solidify our commitment to healthier, more sustainable spaces.

  • Fitwel Social Performance (FSP): In partnership with EVORA Global, we launched FSP, a pioneering initiative that combines health and economic impact to redefine the value of well-being in real estate. This new Scale Certification complements our Asset Certification and provides a clear, efficient pathway for asset owners and managers, meeting the growing demand for high-quality reporting and enhanced asset value.

  • Fitwel Version 3: We introduced a major update to the Fitwel Standard, integrating the latest public health research while streamlining the certification process. With enhanced tools, resources, and technology, this update makes it easier than ever for you to achieve certification while advancing your well-being and sustainability goals.

  • GRESB Recognition: We reached a major milestone with GRESB, where Fitwel Asset Certification now earns full points and Fitwel Social Performance earns partial plus. This recognition highlights our commitment to aligning health, sustainability, and investor confidence in ways that drive long-term impact.

Health and Value: A Shifting Real Estate Landscape
The real estate industry is undergoing a transformation. Factors influencing value are shifting, with an increasing focus on the health of people and the planet. To remain competitive and future-ready, we must continue to adapt to climate risks, rising consumer expectations, and the growing demand for spaces that have a positive impact on health.

  • Meeting the Evolving Demand for Healthier Spaces: Today’s students, who will become the renters, homeowners, and decision-makers of tomorrow, have grown up amidst the challenges of climate change and the COVID-19 pandemic. Their expectations are clear: they want environments that prioritize well-being and sustainability. This community is shaping the future of the built environment and we are here to support the next generation of real estate.

  • Quantifying the Business Case for Health: Value-Driven Data for Long-Term Impact: The Fitwel Standard continues to highlight the link between health and financial performance. By scaling health-focused strategies and providing clear, data-driven metrics, we empower real estate professionals to create spaces that resonate with occupants, meet demand in this evolving market and protect long-term value.

Looking Ahead
As we look to the future, we reaffirm our mission to impact all people. The work we do today—whether large or small—creates lasting effects that drive sustainable transformation across the built environment.

Next year we are excited to share our ever expanding knowledge around the value of health, as we leverage this connection to show how promoting health is core business for real estate - effecting ROI, NOI, and risk.

Thank you for your continued partnership and commitment. Here's to an even brighter, more impactful 2025.

Onward toward building health for all, together.
Warm regards,

Joanna Frank
