Healthy Building Profile: Plaza Tower One - Denver, CO

Granite Properties: Plaza Tower One, Denver, CO

Granite Properties became a Fitwel Champion this fall and certified nine office buildings, including Plaza Tower One, a Class-A, LEED Gold-certified office building in Denver, Colorado. The team chose Fitwel because they felt it was important to communicate and demonstrate their commitment to provide productive and wellness-focused work environments for the health and wellbeing of their customers and employees.

In 2020, Granite implemented their portfolio-wide Inspire Wellness, a $10 million initiative to enhance the health and safety of their office buildings and new developments. The company enhanced filtration systems across their portfolio, installed touchless fixtures, and improved outdoor workspaces. Recently, to encourage people to take the stairs, Granite activated the stairwells by painting the walls a bright blue color and hanging motivational signage. Similarly, the property features more bike racks in the parking garage to promote biking to work. They also implemented health and wellness programming to the existing customer engagement program, TogetherWeConnect.

Other aspects already in place at Plaza Tower One include:

  • EATS healthy food options

  • MOVE fitness Center

  • Views of nature

  • TogetherWeConnect customer engagement program

  • Walkable amenities and public transportation

As a Fitwel Champion, Granite Properties is pursuing Fitwel Certification for 19 buildings across all their markets by 2023, as well as their 23Springs development under construction in Dallas, upon completion. The twenty buildings span 6.7 million square feet, which is more than half of Granite’s 11.5 million square feet portfolio. As of December 13, 2022, Granite has certified a total of nine buildings, including Plaza Tower One, earning a one-star rating.  Being a Fitwel Champion coincides with their broader commitment to providing people-centric workspaces promoting wellness, sustainability, community, and giving back.
