AT A GLANCE
Awards: Highest Scoring Viral Response Module (2022)
Project Location: Salesforce’s Global Headquarters, 415 Mission St., San Francisco, CA
We’re thrilled to congratulate Salesforce and Fitwel Provider, Brightworks Sustainability, for earning this year’s Best in Building Health award for the Highest Scoring Viral Response Module at Salesforce’s Global Headquarters building in San Francisco, CA! The Fitwel Viral Response Module, or VRM, sets the industry standard for optimizing buildings in response to the broad health impacts of infectious respiratory diseases in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This award reflects Salesforce's "behind-the-scenes" efforts and ongoing dedication to keeping their employees and communities healthy, safe, and productive. Although Salesforce began focusing on healthy spaces years ago, COVID-19 prompted them to sharpen their focus, specifically on improving indoor air quality within their own offices. Salesforce has since committed to pursuing Fitwel VRM certification across their major office sites around the world, including the San Francisco Global Headquarters, Salesforce Tower.
The Salesforce and Brightworks project teams, including Relina Bulchandani, EVP of Real Estate and Workplace Services with Salesforce, and one of this year's Top 20 Fitwel Ambassadors, Katie Luong, shared with us about their achievements and their commitment to the healthy building movement. Their insights are below.
What does Building Health mean to the Salesforce team?
“At Salesforce, one of the most important pillars of our real estate strategy is the health and safety of our buildings. This recognition signals our commitment to improving the air quality of our buildings and creating safe spaces for all who step through our doors. We’re proud of this achievement and will continue to pursue Fitwel VRM certification across our major office sites around the world.”
— Relina Bulchandani, EVP of Real Estate and Workplace Services, Salesforce
Why did you choose Fitwel? What strategies did you pursue in Salesforce’s HQ?
“As leaders in the healthy building movement, Salesforce uses its business as a platform for change for a healthy, resilient, and sustainable future. We believe we are responsible for pushing the industry forward which is why we pursued Fitwel. The Fitwel Certification builds trust with our neighbors and employees by tangibly showing our commitment and promise to ensure a healthy and safe workplace for our employees, which has been critical in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Salesforce pursued 98.5% of the strategies in the Viral Response Module, implementing measures to enhance the indoor environment, promote positive behavioral change, and build trust internally and with the surrounding community.”
— Lindy Gibbons, Manager of Workplace Engineering, Salesforce
