What does Best in Building Health mean to you?
JJ: Best in Building Health means that we set the standard on how businesses should operate within their spaces and industries. It means that we are adopting leading sustainable practices and pioneering new ones within the global economy, while providing safe and healthy spaces where our associates can thrive.

Why did you choose to become a Fitwel Ambassador?
JJ: I first heard about the Fitwel Ambassador Program from my colleagues at TIAA when they encouraged me to take initiative to certify our modernized sites. I chose to become an Ambassador to build up my expertise and credentials within my job, as I was a recent college graduate. Ultimately, I wanted the chance to not only do something good for TIAA, but also for the world, which is a win-win situation.

What is the proudest moment you’ve had while being part of Fitwel?
JJ: Aside from receiving the Top 20 Ambassador of 2022 award, my proudest moment using Fitwel would be certifying TIAA’s Charlotte headquarters. This project included multiple onsite visits to document existing strategies and to outline plans for future strategies with key stakeholders. By certifying our Charlotte campus, I was able to promote our campus’ health and wellness features to thousands of associates.

What in particular have you valued most about being an Ambassador?
JJ: Not only has the Fitwel Ambassador Program given me a prominent seat at the table during modernization and construction calls, but it has also impacted my career through new business growth opportunities. I am now deeply involved in more sustainability initiatives across the business thanks to the raised awareness of my work with Fitwel certifying our hub locations. For example, I am co-leading TIAA's push to become net-zero carbon by 2024. Additionally, I am now working closely with the construction team to design Fitwel approved spaces for our new build-outs and other sites.
