Ambassador Since: June 2020

Cushman & Wakefield (C&W), a leading global commercial real estate firm and Fitwel Champion, acts on its mission to contribute to a more sustainable and inclusive future for people and communities — including their own employees, many of whom have earned the Fitwel Ambassador credential. After becoming a Fitwel Champion in 2017, they went on to win several Best in Building Health awards, including this year's Highest Scoring Viral Response Module, the Highest Scoring Commercial Site at 125 Broad Street in New York, and the Highest Scoring Recertification Project at Bank of America Tower. We’re proud to congratulate Cushman & Wakefield and the ambitious professionals behind several award-winning projects. This year, three of the company's nearly 60 Fitwel Ambassadors made the Top 20 Ambassadors list: Rachel Schiftan (Washington, D.C.), Christine Cho (Chicago), and Megan Krest (Denver).

We sat down with Megan to hear about her achievements and the firm’s motivations as a global leader in the healthy building movement.

How did you first hear of the Fitwel Ambassador opportunity?
MK:
I first heard about the Fitwel Ambassador program in 2019 when I joined Cushman & Wakefield’s U.S. Energy & Sustainability Services team. It was then that I began to learn more about the benefits of Fitwel Certification and the value that it held to our Investor Services clients and their real estate portfolios. As the demand for healthy buildings continues to grow, becoming an Ambassador has allowed me to not only position myself to better support our clients in achieving certifications but to stay at the forefront of the healthy buildings movement with the research and resources provided to Fitwel Ambassadors.

How has becoming a Fitwel Ambassador impacted your life and/or career?
MK: Becoming a Fitwel Ambassador has had a tremendous impact on my life and career through the knowledge, resources, and community that the Fitwel Certification program has provided. The demand for healthy buildings and creating robust ESG programs has never been greater, and being able to leverage the network of individuals committed to creating a healthier and more equitable real estate industry has allowed me to grow both personally and professionally. I have been able to work on projects globally, and seeing the reach that the Fitwel Standard has on our built environment makes me proud to represent the program through being an Ambassador.
