In the heart of Bangkok, the Thai Health Promotion Foundation stands as a beacon of health innovation and environmental sustainability. It’s not just a workplace but a ‘Living Museum’ dedicated to improving the health of Thai citizens, earning it a Best in Building Health award under the Single-Tenant Building v2.1 (Built) category. Spearheaded by Africus Co., Ltd., this project showcases how integrating the Fitwel Standard can transform workspaces into hubs of well-being. Through strategic planning and implementation, the Foundation inspires others to elevate their health-promoting capabilities.

Read on as we explore the project's goals for the future.

What inspired the project teams to pursue Fitwel Healthy Building Certification?
IN:
Our workplace at the Thai Health Promotion Foundation is a 'Living Museum' that embodies our commitment to improving Thai people's health. We pursued Fitwel Certification because we wanted to inspire, motivate, and empower individuals and organizations from all sectors to improve their health-promoting capabilities. We believe this helps to create a healthy society and environment, which supports Thailand's health-promotion movement.

What advice would you give to teams that are considering using Fitwel for the first time?
AS:
The challenge lies in balancing critical aspects, such as creating spaces for well-being and safety while meeting high space usage demands. Aligning with the organization's health and well-being vision is critical to realizing the full potential of Fitwel scoring.

How does Fitwel support and improve your efforts to promote health and well-being?
IN:
We’re committed to improving employees’ health and well-being, and implementing Fitwel strategies like ensuring optimal indoor air quality, providing quality water to occupants, and developing an emergency preparedness plan, helps us achieve this goal. All features and amenities in the building are continuously reviewed and upgraded to meet the Fitwel Standard.

What are your goals for 2024 (and beyond)? How have they changed in response to market demand and regulations?
PW:
The Thai Health Promotion Foundation works to improve the well-being of the Thai people through our 'Thaihealth Plans.' These plans encourage people to prioritize their physical health and advocate for practices that enhance overall quality of life, such as workplace safety, and various other health-promoting strategies we implement through Fitwel.

What is your company's greatest challenge in implementing and generating value from its ESG strategy?
AS:
Our company’s values of Wisdom, Sustainability, Inspiring, Integrity, and Collaborative Working are inextricably linked to our ESG strategies. When considering long-term impacts, the most difficult challenge is to create a supportive environment, encourage participation, and measure expected outcomes in a tangible way. We’re grateful that Fitwel offers a pathway to help us achieve this.
